Because of Lucas' eczema, we drink carrot juice almost every day. It's a great body detox and also helps his digestive system that sometimes struggles to do what the rest of us take for granted. With the addition of all those greens, I have just added them to his carrot juice. Thankfully he loves his carrot juice and gets so excited every morning when I get it ready for him!
Juicing or green smoothies are great for everyone, not just for kids like Lucas! They are a great way to start your day and ensure you get all those veggies that you need each day. And, with the addition of an apple, a pear or a banana, they don't taste half bad. We try to drink them before we eat anything else. One thing I learned when we were on GAPS was that our bodies do a great job of detoxing until about 9 or 10 in the morning, so if you just juice before then, it aids your body in resting and allowing any detox that needs to happen, come easier.
Such a simple way to get added veggies and fruits into your diet!
Our favorite is a bag of organic carrots from Trader Joe's
1 organic apple
a bunch of greens
And the kiddos like it too (at least the youngest one never protests!)
A lot of people like the vitamix, but I didn't have the money or patience to wait for the money to get that one, so back in February, we got an Omega Juicer. Cheaper and I love that I only have to deal with the juice, not all the thickness of what the vitamix would give you!
Do you juice? If so, what's your favorite combination of fruits and veggies?

Mmmm I love juice. My friend from the Caymans made some new recipes over the weekend. They were amazing especially the carrot ginger. Your little one is so cute.

My favorite smoothie combo is spinach, frozen blueberries, banana, soy milk, and orange juice. Mmm mmm good!
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm not a fan of the green smoothies (I do eat a lot of greens though if that helps make up for it, lol), I ADORE your drinking glasses, and your little one is a cutie patootie!

I love juicing, but haven't done it in a long time. I'm trying to get back on the healthy train though so it looks like I'll be breaking out my juicer! I am so excited to hear that carrot juice is great for eczema, I had no idea. My daughter and I both deal with eczema, this is even more motivation for me to make juicing a regular part of our morning. By the way, one of my favorite combos is carrot, apple, ginger with greens (Kale is a fave!) Sometimes I'll add a wheat grass shot for the green. Ginger gives it a great kick and is so good for the body.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I found this site! I'd love a visit at either of my blogs: http://ladiesholiday.com and http://alimentblog.blogspot.com
