So perhaps you've heard of it or did it last time around or are doing it this time...I thought it sounded like an excellent idea last time, but I wasn't in the place time-wise to do it...I'm super excited to participate this time around and hope and pray it will encourage me to keep my butt in gear, so to speak.
My goal is one as I don't think I will have time for more than that and here's a little background into it...
When I was about 8 years old, my mom, to encourage me to spend time with God and teach me how to have quiet time with Him, made me a book of Bible activities and lessons that I was to work on each morning when I woke up. I'm sure it also had a lot to do with trying to help my attitude become better...I was a grumpy kid and bless her heart, she was amazing at providing ways to encourage a more joy-filled life.
I don't think I was exactly thrilled with her gift although she continued to give things like that to me all throughout my childhood, adolescence and teenage years. Around 15, I really started appreciating and valuing her gifts and I'm so thankful she took the time to make those things for me and teach me that time with God is so vital to our very existence each day!
Fast forward many many moons and here I am with a 6 1/2 year old daughter very much like myself. We are so alike that most of the time, cannot see eye to eye on things and butt heads quite frequently. I see so much of myself in her as she struggles to keep a joyful spirit and always has a comeback for any suggestion or encouragement you might provide her. She's amazing and I'm so thankful for her headstrong spirit and independent heart, but I also long to cultivate the softer side of her personality, like my mother did for me.
When she is happy and full of joy, she is the most amazing kid! She has such a huge heart and love for family and those around her. She's an amazing kid who, when I suggested making an Bible/Jesus activity book for her to work on each morning when she wakes up, didn't get negative like I did, but got excited about it, and this morning woke up asking me if her book was ready. I scrambled (literally) to print off some activity sheets for her and determined to get that book done ASAP.
Here she is this morning writing out Matthew 22:37. What joy it brought to my heart to see her doing this!
So, all that to say, my goal for these 6 weeks of Resolutions in Motion is to get that activity book together for her. I want it to be something that challenges her but is also fun so that she looks forward to quiet time with Jesus every morning.
I wrote children's curriculum back in college but it's been what feels like forever since I did that so I'm feeling a little overwhelmed, but I haven't found anything yet online that I'm super crazy about to just give her, so I will do my own thing.
So thankful that I have some cheerleaders for these 6 weeks! :)
Here's to reaching our goals!
